Our Mission
The WCCW Community Resource Council (CRC) is a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering community engagement and providing vital resources to support the Western Correctional Center for Women in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Our organization works tirelessly to bridge the gap between the community and the facility - promoting education, enrichment, and rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.

WCCW has a fall festival themed FUN DAY on Friday, October 30th - and we would really love to have some Halloween candy as a “treat” for everyone at the facility.

We are doing a candy donation drive again this year, and we need your help!
WCCW has a fall festival themed FUN DAY on Friday, October 30th - and we would really love to have some Halloween candy as a “treat” for everyone at the facility.
We are at full capacity right now, so that means 366 residents! (So that is a LOT of candy needed!)
If you or someone you know has a faith group, business, organization, family, or individual that would like to donate some candy, we would really appreciate it!
WHO: WCCW’s Fall Festival FUN DAY
WHAT: Halloween Candy Drive
WHERE: once collected -
• drop off at WCCW: please call (828) 259-6000 and coordinate drop-off appointment time with Mr. Patneaude or Mr. Velez
55 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain
• pick up at business/faith group: email admin@ministryofhopewnc.org to coordinate drop-off appointment time (only Black Mountain)
WHEN: NOW until October 26, 2025
HOW: collect within your community - candy must be:
1) commercially produced (nothing homemade, sorry!) and
2) individually wrapped

We are deeply passionate about successful reentry, and believe that building connections before release drastically improves outcomes. The participants will be within 18 month

This Reentry Resource Fair is aimed at connecting these women with vital services, including healthcare, recovery, housing, and education. We are deeply passionate about successful reentry, and believe that building connections before release drastically improves outcomes. The participants will be within 18 months of release (many within 90 days), often facing significant hurdles with limited resources.

We are deeply passionate about successful reentry, and believe that building connections before release drastically improves outcomes. The participants will be within 18 months of release (many within 90 days), often facing significant hurdles with limited resources.
To help you prepare, we will provide a summary of the participants' highest-needs areas based on their applications.

Help us keep a tradition alive for the women this holiday season!
Every year at Christmas, we put together essentials and treats for the ladies. This year, funding has been low, so the WCCW CRC is raising donations to keep it going.
One former resident told us,
"This was the highlight of my year, just knowing someone cared for us. I cried

Every year at Christmas, we put together essentials and treats for the ladies. This year, funding has been low, so the WCCW CRC is raising donations to keep it going.
One former resident told us,
"This was the highlight of my year, just knowing someone cared for us. I cried all the way back to my dorm."
Even a bar of Dove soap or Dermasil Lotion is a real treat. Please help any way you can. The facilities have 366 beds, and they stays at full occupancy year-round.
In this Christmas drive, we are also planning 3 more smaller gifts for residents each quarter. In the past, they have received lots of gifts at Christmas but not much through the end of the year.
We are hoping that with more sustainable funding, as well as additional planning and collaboration with our "outside the gates" community supporters, we can make this hope a reality for 2027.
